Sumit Mehndiratta is a self-taught, multi-disciplinary artist who creates mesmerizing geometric patterns through various mediums. Describing his style of work, the Delhi-based artist explains, “My main genre of work is nature and abstraction, which is prominent in most of the works. I love abstraction and the fact that everyone perceives it differently. It brings me pleasure to see how people relate to different shapes and colours, and interpret them differently.”
This complex woven work of art transforms over 4900 feet of thread into stunning shapes and patterns. Each nail is hammered onto the wooden plank, then fine lines of thread are woven through the nails one by one to create a beautiful, intricate design. The wooden plank in the background is painted with acrylic paint, with a rich wooden texture visible just below the painted layers. Each astonishing piece arrives ready to hang in a white wooden frame with acrylic glass.
