Monti
92 Point Limited Edition Monti Barolo "Censored" // Set of 2 // 750 ml each
Product Description
Monti operates at the intersection of modernity and the meticulousness of human work to give life to excellent Barolos. Located in Bussia, a historical vineyard in the village of Monforte d’Alba and the first Cru of Barolo to be officially labeled, along with Rocche di Castiglione, in 1961. Bussia represents one of the most prestigious vineyards not only of Monforte but of the entire Barolo area. The Monti winery manages a little less than two hectares of Nebbiolo and a small plot of Barbera in the heart of Bussia Sottana, and the vineyards are located at 918-984 feet above sea level.
The 2003 Limited Edition Monti Barolo "Censored" is truly a rare, tour de force wine that is a must for anyone who loves aged to perfection Barolo. The label is a photograph from Tom Sandberg, a famous Norwegian photographer who has shown his work around the world. Although the wine is sold in other countries with the original photo, the US TTB "censored" the label for sale in the United States. Hence, the name and banner. This Barolo has a noble nose of blackberry, cherry, and spices. Majestic and pounding tannins, paired with a defined freshness, and superb depth.
