Rancho Tierra Rejada, Spanish for “land of worked earth,” is the original name of the 2,500 acre Paso Robles ranch that is now home to the vineyards that produce Broken Earth Wines. In the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, grain and cattle were the primary commodities here. It was a land of pioneer families, vaqueros, banditos, and cattle barons. Paso Robles defined the real and true west before 1900. That pioneer spirit lives on today at Broken Earth Winery.

The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon shows exactly why Paso Robles is the ideal region for this variety. The wine is rich and full flavored with masses of dark berry fruit and abundant oak. There are hints of tobacco and cedar on the nose with supporting blackcurrant aromas. The depth of fruit is amazing and the wonderful length of flavor is enhanced by both bright acidity and firm, ripe tannins. This wine is robust and pairs best with foods of similar weight. Careful cellaring will be well rewarded.
