Olive Orchard II // 1889
Product Description
Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890) was a Dutch painter whose work was characterized by bold colors and dramatic, expressive brushwork. His landscapes, still lifes, and unusual self portraits helped define modern art, and his style eventually came to be called "Post-Impressionism". The movement emphasized symbolism, distortion, and abstraction, in direct opposition to the hyper-realism of traditional Impressionism.
He was largely regarded as a failure during his lifetime, but after his death and into the 20th century he became known as the quintessential misunderstood genius of art as we know it.
