View of Auvers, c.1890
Product Description
Auvers was one of several French villages that captured van Gogh's attention. This print of an oil study shows a part of the village along the Oise river. There are four compositional layers that were done separately; the canvas material can even be glimpsed between the houses.

About the Designer
Vincent van Gogh (1853—1890) went from relative obscurity during his lifetime to becoming one of the most recognized names in 19th century art. The Dutch post-Impressionist painter's work is characterized by rough beauty, emotional honesty and bold color. Unfortunately, he did not start painting until his 20's and died at the young age of 37.
