Vase with Lilacs, Daisies and Anemone, c.1887
Product Description
In his decade of oil painting, Vincent can Gogh painted many floral still lives. The reason was purely practical, the artist himself writing "I have lacked money for paying models... but I have made a series of colour studies in painting simply flowers, red poppies, blue corn flowers and myosotys. White and rose roses, yellow chrysanthemums." This display of lilacs, daisies, and anemone is a perfect example of what beauty ironically came from his lack of artistic funding.

About the Designer
Vincent van Gogh (1853—1890) went from relative obscurity during his lifetime to becoming one of the most recognized names in 19th century art. The Dutch post-Impressionist painter's work is characterized by rough beauty, emotional honesty and bold color. Unfortunately, he did not start painting until his 20's and died at the young age of 37.
