This is one of the secondary series, which was painted to impress van Gogh's peer Paul Gauguin. Sunflowers on Gold is a classic van Gogh that is instantly recognizable as one of his masterpieces.

About the Designer
Vincent van Gogh (1853—1890) went from relative obscurity during his lifetime to becoming one of the most recognized names in 19th century art. The Dutch post-Impressionist painter's work is characterized by rough beauty, emotional honesty and bold color. Unfortunately, he did not start painting until his 20's and died at the young age of 37.
