The MBTA Harvard sign was included as one of the stations involved in the pioneering Arts on the Line program. It was the first program of its kind in the United States and became the model for similar arrangements to fund public art across the country.

Why would we bring you subway signs? Well, for any designer/enthusiast—with a real appreciation for typography—these original subway signs have significant value. Your typical MTA sign is easy to take for granted, but in a more subjective way, these signs are some of the best examples of Helvetica in it's purest, most refined form.
