LaSalle station opened on February 25, 1951, as the southern terminal of the Milwaukee-Dearborn subway on the CTA's Milwaukee Avenue route. It remained a terminal station until it was linked to the new Congress Expressway route in 1958.

Why would we bring you subway signs? Well, for any designer/enthusiast—with a real appreciation for typography—these original subway signs have significant value. Found all throughout the great city of Chicago, your typical MTA sign is easy to take for granted, but in a more subjective way, these signs are some of the best examples of Helvetica in it's purest, most refined form. This sign is for all design aficionados who simply acknowledge and appreciate the beauty of Chicago's best typography at work.
