In the Ukiyo-e Heroes project, illustrator Jed Henry and traditional woodblock printmaker Dave Bull have combined their talents to create Japanese woodblock-inspired prints. Machine printed on handmade Japanese paper, each piece brings a surprising twist to iconic heroes, villains, and monsters spanning almost every genre. Modern costuming has been traded for the medieval, but the essence of each character remains.

Henry executes the challenge of adapting European design with East Asian elements in this piece. There's a strong balance between action and anticipation, and between detail and visual restraint. The left cartouche reads "闇魂," which means "dark spirits." The right cartouche reads "弋人刑吏," which translates to "hunter and executioner."
