With a cooling capacity of 810,000 BTUs ASHRAE-rating and a 6,000 BTUs 2017 DOE Standard, this AC can cool down spaces up to 300 sq ft while remaining lightweight enough to move from one room to another when you need. It also features a fan only option and a dehumidifier capable of removing 2.5 pints of 10,000 BTU units of water per hour. This allows for drier, cooler air that is extremely refreshing in the summer heat.

If it has casters, why does it need a window opening?

When the unit runs under cool mode, it will produce hot air in the outlet of the backside of the machine. The hot air has to be vented outside through the exhaust hose. You need to connect the exhaust hose to somewhere that can be discharged outside, or your unit will exhaust hot air into the room that you are trying to cool.

Is this a window A/C, and does it use water or ice to cool off? What's the science behind it's cooling system?

The portable air conditioner has wheels that can be easily moved from room to room once the exhaust hose has connected to a nearby window. Portable air conditioners work by pulling hot air from inside the room. It doesn't need to add water and ice to the unit. The compressor inside the unit then cools the air for circulation throughout the space. The unit also takes the excess warm air and moisture and vents outside through the exhaust hose and out the window. An installation kit and hose are included with purchase.

Is the exhaust vent higher on the unit?

It depends on if the window is higher than the unit. We recommend you should leave 24 inches from the wall and the exhaust hose should be connected to a nearby window that is lower than 51 inches. There should be a curve for the exhaust hose.
