Inspired by the form of a beehive, the Hive Light is a tapering wooden helix of steam bent ash, oak or walnut suspended in place with a laser cut birch frame. The spiraling form of the pendant allows light to flood through the grain of the wood, creating a honey-warm glow. For the oak and walnut versions, the golden glow is directed more onto the interior of the shade.

Tom Raffield grew up surrounded by the extreme wilderness, tranquility and natural beauty of Exmoor, England, instilling in him a love of nature and natural materials. His fascination with the traditional practice of steam bending began while studying at Falmouth College of Arts. Years later, Tom has his own company through which he creates spectacular, ecologically sound, innovative furniture and lighting.
