Feudi di San Gregorio
Feudi di San Gregorio Set // 3 Pack
Product Description
A modern expression of a centuries-old tradition of passion and dedication to the land, Feudi di San Gregorio is Campania's premier winemaking estate. Situated in the village of Sorbo Serpico in one of Italy's most exciting and innovative wine regions, Feudi di San Gregorio was established in 1986 in a joint venture between the Ercolino and Capaldo families of Irpinia. The proprietors of this family-run estate have selected the finest vineyards in which to nurture this region's unique, indigenous varietals.
The results have been remarkable – the wines of Feudi di San Gregorio have met time and again with stellar reviews and have garnered international critical acclaim. Owner and winemaker Enzo Ercolino works closely with consultant Riccardo Cotarella, one of Italy's foremost enologists.
The 2012 Feudi di San Gregorio Sirica, was awarded 94 points by Wine Spectator, who said: "it opens with intense aromas of blackberry, leather, violets, underbrush and Mediterranean herbs. The delicious palate doles out mature black cherry, blueberry, black pepper, clove and grilled sage alongside velvety tannins and fresh acidity. It's beautifully balanced and will continue to evolve well over the next decade.” Decant and drink this wowser of a red with lamb or beef.
The 2011 Feudi di San Gregorio Taurasi hails from Campania, Italy. Feudi di San Gregorio is considered to be the best Taurasi-producer in Italy, and the wine is quite rightly called the ""Barolo of the South"". Produced from the best grapes in the village of Taurasi (one of the most revered production sites of Campania), this wine, with 3 years of maturation, bears its namesake. With high scores across a plethora of wine raters, it's a favorite of a recent tasting; suave, well-balanced, richly flavored, 100% Aglianico, which stands alone at this secured value.
The 2011 Feudi di San Gregorio Patrimo Merlot is an extraordinary wine ,secured by chance from an historic vineyard in the heart of Irpinia, the Patrimo is an atypical and unique Merlot thanks to the contribution of this prized territory. It is the only interpretation of an international variety proposed by the Feudi di San Gregorio. The 2011 Pàtrimo is one of those wines that flaunts its confidence and greatness. A library vintage, it shows plump, with enough of it to carry the wine over the next decade. Since this particular year, Pàtrimo has moved increasingly towards a higher percentage of neutral oak and that change becomes very obvious in this vintage. Fermented and macerated in steel tanks for about 3 weeks, it is then left to age for 24 months in medium-toasted French oak barriques and is finally aged for a further 10 months in bottle.
