The Exposition City // San Francisco // Inverted Black + White
Product Description
An exceptional view of a most unique city during a very exciting time in history, The Exposition City map depicts a bird’s eye view of San Francisco from the bay in 1912, looking west towards Golden Gate and the Pacific Ocean. At the time of printing, the city was experiencing a sense of triumph and jubilation. Just six years prior, San Francisco nearly succumbed to a devastating earthquake and widespread fires that engulfed and destroyed much of the city. Now they were preparing to host the Panama–Pacific International Exposition, or World’s Fair (shown on the north side of the peninsula). By this time the city had been almost completely rebuilt and was experiencing notable economic activity and growth in population.
As with most maps and views, the closer one looks, the more they will find. This cannot be understated with this incredible print as hundreds of buildings are labeled and presented with exquisite detail, along with many streets, parks, and wharfs. The unique topography of the city is also shown in realistic detail. The bay itself is teeming with activity as sail and steam powered ships make their way in and out of San Francisco Bay.
This high quality replica is printed on water-resistant fabric wallpaper backed with an easily repositionable adhesive that removes cleanly with no residue. Apply it to any flat surface in seconds for a richly detailed, vintage-inspired accent that instantly adds sophisticated style to your space.
