Château Mauvinon, an ivy-covered brick building with inviting open windows and a dazzling aura of familiarity, still bears the twin unicorns on its label with which Claude Tribaudeau emblazoned it at its founding in 1962. A short two and a half miles from the medieval stone streets of St-Emilion, the stunning family estate is classified as a World Heritage site by UNESCO. Brigitte Tribaudeau took the reins in 1995 and is the best host for a tasting any of us could have hoped for.

Chateau Mauvinon carefully maintains their vineyards to ensure that the soil, the vines, and the cellar are at the peak of health. Their fleshy blend of 70% Merlot, 25% Cab Franc, and 5% Cab Sauv owes its greatness to the fact that the vines are treated like family.
