Product Description
Every year, the PANTONE® Color Institute selects the "color of the year". Their experts search the globe all year for new influences, which include everything from politics to technology, to social media, movies and TV, popular materials and textures in fashion and decor, and anything else that garners big attention.
In 2019, the winning color was 16-1546 Living Coral, featured in this collection of canvas art prints. Each one features a wildly different style and comes from a different time period - proving that this shade has always been beloved.
In PANTONE's own words, "Living Coral embraces us with warmth and nourishment to provide comfort and buoyancy in our continually shifting environment. In reaction to the onslaught of digital technology and social media increasingly embedding into daily life, we are seeking authentic and immersive experiences that enable connection and intimacy.
Sociable and spirited, the engaging nature of PANTONE® 16-1546 Living Coral welcomes and encourages lighthearted activity...it's a nurturing color that appears in our natural surroundings and at the same time, displays a lively presence within social media".

About the Designer
Henri Matisse was born in Le Cateau-Cambrésis, Nord, France, the oldest son of a prosperous grain merchant. In 1887 he went to Paris to study law, working as a court administrator in Le Cateau-Cambrésis after gaining his qualification. He first started to paint in 1889, after his mother brought him art supplies during a period of convalescence following an attack of appendicitis. He discovered "a kind of paradise" as he later described it, and decided to become an artist, deeply disappointing his father. In 1891, he returned to Paris to study art at the Académie Julian and became a student of William-Adolphe Bouguereau and Gustave Moreau.
