Beech Grove // Gustav Klimt // 1902
Product Description
Austrian artist Gustav Klimt (1862-1918) was a symbolist painter and one of the most prominent members of the Vienna Secession movement. Known for a style abstract in form but frank in its sexuality and eroticism, his colorful pieces often featured the female form, along with subversive, allegorical landscapes. Highly influenced by the popular Japanese art styles of the time, Klimt is known for being controversial, especially after his commissioned painting of the ceiling of the Great Hall of the University of Vienna in 1900 was criticized as pornographic.
