2012 Pierre Damoy Gevrey-Chambertin "Clos Tamisot"
Product Description
2012 Pierre Damoy Gevrey-Chambertin "Clos Tamisot" 95 Points
A single, tiny plot of 3.5 acres gives rise to one of Gevrey-Chambertin’s greatest accomplishments. Planted in the 1920s, these vines produce a small bounty of Pinot Noir behind Pierre Damoy’s family home. Known for their grand structure and intensity, Gevrey-Chambertin takes on a svelte, polished charm in Clos Tamisot.
And this is only expression of Damoy’s revered ancestral vineyard. The family has held a monopoly (monopole in French) over this vineyard since Pierre’s great-great-grandfather planted it in the 1920s. Five generations later, Pierre has taken over for his uncle and maintains the natural, wholistic wine growing traditions in the vineyard.
This singular wine from one of Cote de Nuits very best producers is spellbinding. A deep ruby color in the glass unfolds into aromas of spice, ripe berries, forest floor, and the fully fleshed tannin structure which sets this region apart.
