Product Description

2011 Aurelien Verdet Nuits St Georges 1er Cru "Les Damodes" 93 Points
From Pinot Noir paradise and one of the largest 1er Cru vineyards in Nuits-Saint-Georges, this Les Damodes has quickly become one of our favorite Burgundy’s to enjoy right now. Somehow it craves holiday feasts more than we do and is just begging to sit on your dinner table, thoroughly rich and exuberant. Wine Spectator awarded it 93 points calling it “impeccably balanced, extending through the long, vibrant finish.”

Although connoisseurs can’t stop raving about this Burgundy’s present drinkability, and are talking right this minute satisfaction, don’t miss its potential to age as well. An easy ten years lies ahead of this bottle due to its complex and weighty structure that continues to deliciously develop.

2012 Aurelien Verdet Nuits St Georges 1er Cru "Les Damodes" 92 Points
One of our favorite 1er Cru vineyards in Nuits-Saint-Georges - planted entirely to Pinot Noir FYI - is known for its full-bodied and well-structured temptresses and a name that is somewhat contentious. Rumors fly over “Les Damodes” and whether its feminine airs reference fairies, goddesses or druidesses. 2012 Aurelien Verdet “Les Damodes” is just plain seductive with penetrating aromas and one of the most eloquent profiles around. Wine Spectator shelled out 92 points highlighting its “macerated cherry, boysenberry, violet and spice notes” with cellaring potential through 2028.

The son of a pioneer in Burgundy’s organic viticulture, Aurelien Verdet carries on his father’s tradition where you will find almost all of his parcels organically farmed and harvested by hand. Pair that with superior winemaking in the cellar and we have a first-rate Burgundy start to long, satisfying finish.

2013 Aurelien Verdet Nuits St Georges 1er Cru "Les Damodes" 93 Points
Thoughts of Les Damodes are thoughts of bold, rich Pinot Noirs built for many, many years in the cellar. Planted in the 1960s, the 1er Cru vineyard is touched by Vosne-Romanee, Aux Boudots, Aux Cras, La Richemone and Aux Chaignots. Put simply, high-quality should be the distinguished Burgundian region’s middle name.

Getting the best out of the region falls at the hand of the winemaker, in the vineyard and in the cellar. The young and enthusiastic Aurelien Verdet is just that man. Jancis Robinson was quoted saying “one wouldn’t imagine that fruit coming from such varied sources would find such uniform themes of expression. But that is the case, evidence that this young winemaker knows what he is doing.” Wine Spectator also appears to love what Aurelien is doing giving the 2011 93 points, the 2012 92 points, and now the 2013 gets 93 points with its fruit flavors that “make a compelling case for this chewy red.”
