How long does it take to thaw?

Here are some example thaw times:
Hamburger patty: 8-10 minutes
2 pieces of chicken breast from Costco (2-pack): 18-20 minutes
Steak - depending on size, thickness, fatty content. Usually about 30-35 minutes.

"Thaw" = soft enough to cut or marinate.

Can it be used for fish and poultry?

Yes. Make sure all plastic wrappers, bags, foam liners are first removed. The meat has to be in direct contact with the thawing board.

Fish fillets work best as only the parts in direct contact will thaw the quickest. It follows that whole fish and whole turkey wouldn't work so well on any flat defroster board.

Is the thermal liquid harmful?

Although it tastes quite horrible, the liquid is both biodegradable and biosafe. In any case, the liquid is sealed inside the unit itself.

Is it dishwasher safe?

It is recommended to hand wash the defroster.
