Established in 1911, the Schneider Cup was initially created for an aircraft competition to encourage technological progress within the scope of civil aviation engineering, later becoming a race based on pure speed over 350km long triangular circuit. The aircrafts used in this competition were in the hydroplane category and were designed to reach very high speeds but required a considerable amount of preparation to be driven.
From designers and great drivers to the mechanics, this race had enough heroes to nourish an entire cycle of legends, such as the MC-72 hydroplane, piloted by Marshal Francesco Agello, who on October 23rd, 1934 reached a speed of 709 km/h, beating his own record and creating yet another world speed record aboard a seaplane. Today this record still goes undefeated.
The new Aviator MK-II models, including this Tropical edition, are inspired by this amazing feat and boast excellent quality, both mechanically and for all that regards made in Switzerland manufacturing.
