Buzz Aldrin // Apollo 11 // Solar Wind Composition Experiment
Product Description
Buzz Aldrin made history as one of the first humans to step foot on the Moon, July 20, 1969. Revisit the momentous Moon landing on the anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission with TASCHEN’s exclusive, fine art editioned prints, signed by Buzz Aldrin.
110 hours, 3 minutes, and 24 seconds into the mission: Buzz Aldrin sets up the first of the scientific experiments that will be deployed on the surface—the Solar Wind Composition Experiment. This pristine foil sheet, hung on a mast so it was perpendicular to the direction of the sun, would collect some of the tiny particles spewed from the sun and hurled through the solar system as solar wind.
A graduate of West Point, Buzz Aldrin earned his Sc.D. in Astronautics from MIT before joining NASA, and the Gemini XII and Apollo 11 missions. He is the founder of the Human Spaceflight Institute, a nonprofit committed to advancing human spaceflight beyond low Earth orbit.
