Volcanic glass - also known as the obsidian stone - was a great inspiration for the pre-Columbian cultures of Mexico. It has always been present in spiritual practices such as rituals, art, war, cooking and, of course, jewelry. During pre-Hispanic times, it helped to promote the economy in ancient communities as it was used by all social hierarchies.

That fusion of society, culture and natural phenomena has been artfully represented here, with the Natural Bark Cortex Obsidian Ring. Made by hand from a single piece of black obsidian and inlaid tree bark, this utterly distinctive piece is not unlike those worn by ancient royalty.
