Product Description
Carrara Marble from Italy is famous for its tight crystals and luminosity. The stone that would become PRAESCIRE was a chunk sawn off a much larger block, as you can see from the diamond chainsaw grooves. Artist T Barny liked the textures so much that he had to core drill it and polish the holes.
T Barny's works are produced through a method of direct carving, which entails no preconceived notions or models from which to derive the final shape of his pieces. Instead, he allows the natural rhythms of the materials he uses to guide him to a final product. Abstraction is his fascination, and power tools are his forte. He makes use of negative space as much as positive body, establishing an affinity with each piece he carves and evoking a feeling as sublime as the pieces themselves.
