Product Description
This Utah Calcite piece that became NACRE originally came out of a shard from a much larger block weighing 12,000 pounds. The afternoon sun made the stone glow, and it caught the corner of T Barny's eye, inspiring him to give it new life as a sculpture.
T Barny's works are produced through a method of direct carving, which entails no preconceived notions or models from which to derive the final shape of his pieces. Instead, he allows the natural rhythms of the materials he uses to guide him to a final product. Abstraction is his fascination, and power tools are his forte. He makes use of negative space as much as positive body, establishing an affinity with each piece he carves and evoking a feeling as sublime as the pieces themselves.
