Before wrist watches became popular during WW1 as equipment and fashion, time keeping was trusted to pocket watches. Hunter style pocket watches feature a spring-hinged cover to protect the crystal from shocks, dust and dirt. They were worn by hunters who participated in fox hunts, but soon became a fashionable alternative for gentlemen. A Half Hunter is a distinct design with an opening in the center of the cover to view time on the watch dial without the need to open the cover.​ The ​Szanto Half Hunter hearkens back to that elegant look, reminiscent of Victoriana and a richer age of gentlemanly pursuits.

Szanto Design is a collaboration between Szanto founder, Barry Cohen and several well known Swiss & Asian watch designers. Barry has a 24 year background (with Luminox Watch) and is enjoying the challenge of developing watches with a vintage feel and “cool” factor. He primarily works in collaboration with an esteemed Swiss designer whose resume of iconic designs speak for itself but among them are the original Swiss Army watches, 2 of the top Tag Heuers of all time in the 2000 series and the Formula 1, as well as many other well received Swiss designs.
