Longyearbyen is a small coal-mining town on Spitsbergen Island, in Norway's Svalbard archipelago. This High Arctic town is known for its views of the Northern Lights, as well as its long, dark winters. Which is why every year, on March 8, they celebrate Solfestuka, a holiday honoring the first glimpse of the sun in over four months, as the winter begins to fade.

Designed in honor of the region and this celebration, this watch is part of an extremely limited edition run, with only 500 pieces ever made. Featuring just a single hand, it tells traditional 24 hour time only, on a dial designed to look like shifting ice and rippling Arctic winds. It operates on a classic Swiss quartz movement, and is covered by real sapphire crystal, making it a simple and gorgeous homage to a simple and gorgeous way of life.
