FAQ
The advantage of buying a Surecall product is that there are no additional service requirements. This system picks up the signal from the cell towers (all carriers) and amplifies the signal to your phone and back to the cell tower. It will come with a cable (RG-6) to connect the outside antenna to the amplifier and amplifier to the inside antenna.
How will this work with the upcoming 5G service? The nature of this amplifier enhances frequencies, not languages/protocols. So, if the carrier chooses to place their 5G network on the current frequencies that our booster covers, it will work. If not, this booster will continue to enhance the 3G and 4G networks that aren't going away when 5G rolls out.
Does it work in the ocean for boating? It could, but it's not approved by the FCC to do so. You'll want to look at the Fusion MAX for the marine world, to stay compliant with FCC regulations.
Does the outside unit need direct or a clear view of the direction of the cell tower?A direct line of sight is preferred, but not always necessary. As long as there is a signal outside for our antenna to pick up, it will enhance that signal and help re-broadcast it back to the cell tower. You'll want to know where the cell tower is so you can point the outside antenna towards that direction. It will help a lot in heavy tree coverage as it's roughly 32x stronger getting your phone's communications back to the cell tower than a phone by itself.
Does it work when there is currently zero cell phone reception in a rural area? Or does it need at least some signal to work? It's an amplifier, so it will require usable signal to work.
