This Tangram print draws inspiration from a Chinese puzzle known as "the seven boards of skill", an ancient dissection puzzle consisting of seven flat shapes, called tans. Legend has it that a monk instructed his student to paint the beauty of the world on a single ceramic tile. The tile broke, thus inspiring the student to find true beauty and diversity within the seven parts of the broken tile. When assembled together, the tans form a specific shape using all seven pieces.
