A lefty center fielder, Ken Griffey Jr. spent the first 13 years of his major league career with the Seattle Mariners. In his rookie year, Griffey finished third in Rookie of the Year voting. At the turn of the century, "The Kid" moved to the National League Cincinnati Reds, where he spent nine years. In 2008, he split time in Cincinnati and the Chicago White Sox before landing back with the Mariners in 2009. He retired after the 2010 season, ending his 22 year major league career. A first overall pick in the 1987 MLB Draft, Griffey earned 13 All-Star appearances, 10 Gold Glove titles and seven Silver Slugger awards, as well as TSN Major League Player of the Year, Team MVP and All-Star MVP honors. In 2016, he cemented his baseball legacy as the Mariners retired his number 24 and he was inducted to the Baseball Hall of Fame, being put on 437/440 ballots.
