Boeheim attended school at Syracuse played for the Orange and served as an assistant coach from 1969-1976 before becoming head coach in 1976. Over the course of his career he has coached 1000-plus games, winning more than 750 of them, and led the Orange to the 2003 NCAA Championship. He also earned the title of Big East Coach of the Year in 1984, 1991, and 2000.
