Mike Tyson Signed Photo // Right Hook To Mitch Green
Product Description
On May 20th, 1986, "Iron" Mike Tyson and Mitch "Blood" Green squared off at the Mecca Of Boxing, Madison Square Garden. The fight was highly anticipated because of Mitch Green's strength and being ranked one spot ahead of Mike Tyson on the WBC Heavyweight standings. It was also highly anticipated because of the controversy surrounding the disparity in the fighter's purse for the bout.
Mike Tyson was guaranteed $250,000 while Mitch Green was due to make only $30,000 for the contest. Mitch Green went the distance of 10 rounds with Iron Mike but would lose the fight by unanimous decision. Though Mike Tyson and Mitch Green would never meet again in a boxing ring, the two squared off in a street fight on 125th Street in Harlem over claims that Don King, Tyson's promoter at the time, owed Mitch Green money for their previous bout. The street brawl resulted in Mitch Green requiring stitches to his nose and Mike Tyson fracturing his hand. Tyson's injury resulted in pushing back his fight with Frank Bruno and leaving Bad Blood between him and Mitch Green.Â
