Product Description

The Fighting 69th is the 69th New York Infantry Regiment based in New York City's historical armory on Lexington Avenue. Founded in 1849 as the First Irish Regiment, this all-Irish citizen militia was created to train young Irishmen living in New York City in military tactics to fight against the British Crown for Irish independence. When the Civil War broke out in 1861, the First Irish volunteered to fight for the Union cause and reorganized as the 69th Infantry New York State Volunteers. The unit went on to fight in major engagements including the U.S. Civil War, WWI, WWII, Iraq, and Afghanistan. In the spirit and tradition of this time-honored regiment and the worldā€™s finest Irish whiskeys, The Fighting 69th is proud to present an Irish Whiskey truly worthy of the 69th's 170-year tradition.

The Fighting 69th Irish Whiskey is distilled, aged, and bottled on the southern Irish coast in accordance with Irish law. Made from the ļ¬nest high-quality distilling grains, each whiskey is a unique mix of three distinct distillates combined in the right proportions to create the optimal blend. These distillates are triple-distilled in handmade copper pot stills designed for maximum vapor and copper interaction. All their whiskey is first matured a minimum of 3 years in bourbon casks followed by a secondary cask ļ¬nishing.

Tasting Notes
The nose starts with nuances of apple and pear, balanced with malt, oak, and hints of caramelized Bourbon notes. The palate then moves from the clean apple and pear front notes to the vanilla and caramel from the charred bourbon barrels, rounded out with just a touch of sweetness from the port and sherry casks. The finish is a well-balanced whiskey with a hint of cinnamon and sherried honey.
