Silver GONDOR™ Double Crown
Product Description
The Silver GONDOR™ Double Crown is a coronation coin, or Crown, minted in Gondor to celebrate the coronation of Aragorn as King Elessar Telcontar and marriage to the Elf Arwen.
He is shown on the obverse riding a horse and holding a flag with the White Tree of Gondor. Surrounding Aragorn, inscribed in Tengwar: Elessar, Arwen, Gondor. On the reverse are brothers Isildur and Anárion holding a shield featuring the White Tree. They stand on Andúril (Flame of the West in Quenya), Aragorn’s sword forged from the shards of Narsil. Below it are the Sevens Stones Palantíri and the words, King Star and Year One. Above the brothers are the seven stars of the House of Elendil.
This large silver coin was struck in the early years of Aragorn's rule when the need for a larger denomination Double Crown arose. More than twice as thick as a standard Crown, this coin was struck from one full troy ounce of .999 pure silver with a reeded edge to prevent debasement.
