Three Young Surrealist Women Holding in their Arms the Skins of an Orchestra, 1936
Product Description
This orchestra of three mysterious woman on the shores of Catalonia are holding instruments that, in traditional Dali style, seem to be melting and escaping the women. Dali had a fascination with pianos that became a common thread in many of his most famous paintings. It is thought that the tuba, especially because it is the most intact, is a tribute to the burning tubas in René Magritte’s "Les Droits de l’homme."

About the Designer
Spanish artist Salvador Dalí (1904 – 1989) was a groundbreaking icon of the Surrealist movement and one of the greatest artists of the 20th century. Extraordinarily imaginative, he also sculpted, and contributed to fashion, photography and theater. His surreal paintings are characterized by a refined sense of light and space often attributed to his study of Renaissance master works. In contemporary art, Dalí is now a master of his own movement.
