Salvador Dali often used roses in his work as a symbol of female desire. The oversized rose in Rose Meditative, c.1958 hovers over a couple standing far below. The use of the rose is reminiscent of Dali's fellow surrealist Magritte, and his frequent use of the symbolic flower. This is a classic piece of Surrealism that's also classically beautiful.

About the Designer
Spanish artist Salvador Dalí (1904 – 1989) was a groundbreaking icon of the Surrealist movement and one of the greatest artists of the 20th century. Extraordinarily imaginative, he also sculpted, and contributed to fashion, photography and theater. His surreal paintings are characterized by a refined sense of light and space often attributed to his study of Renaissance master works. In contemporary art, Dalí is now a master of his own movement.
