Saddleback Cellars 90+ Point Cabernet Sauvignon Vertical // 3 Bottles
Product Description
Saddleback Cellars was founded in the heart of Napa Valley by acclaimed winemaker Nils Venge. Nils got his start in Napa in 1970, and has been creating award-winning wines at Saddleback since 1981. Known as the "King of Cab," he is the first American to achieve a 100-point score from wine critic extraordinaire Robert Parker Jr. for his production on a 1985 vintage Cabernet Sauvignon.
This 90+ Point Cabernet Sauvignon Vertical features three vintages of the same wine, allowing you the unique chance to taste for yourself how climate, soil, time, barrel composition, and weather conditions can affect the winemaking process from year to year.
The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon is deep colored, with heady aromas of ripe black cherries, peppery spice, and cigar box. Provocative, aromatic displays of ripe berries layered over rich velvety tannins produce an impeccable multi-layered mouthfeel, that elegantly complements grilled steak, braised short ribs, rack of lamb and aged cheese such as Blue, Brie and Camembert.
The identically crafted 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon was awarded 91 Points by Wine Enthusiast. Jon Bonne, wine writer for the San Francisco Chronicle wrote: "focus on the balance of violets, coffee, graphite and pretty currant fruit, and skill evident in its big, savory structure, balancing juicy flavors and a green-olive accent."
The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon also features a dark garnet color with aromas of black cherries, and spice. Wine Spectator called it "Fresh and zesty, with a lively, spicy mix of blueberry and blackberry flavors. Presented in an elegant style, this is supported by ripe, fine-grained tannins, ending with a long, clean, juicy aftertaste", before awarding it 90 points.
