Riedel
Vinum // Single Malt Whiskey // Set of 2
Product Description
Riedel created the Vinum series in 1986 with specific designs that accentuated the characteristics of a grape varietal. Vinum was not developed on a drawing board, but in tasting workshops based on the performance commands the shape to deliver superior performance. Vinum is executed in lead-free crystal, which is machine blown in Bavaria, Germany to meet the same quality and clarity as of Riedel's glassware.
In early 1992, a panel of Scotch whisky experts convened at Riedel's headquarters in Austria to test a range of nineteen different glass shapes. On the basis of this first selection, Georg Riedel undertook further research with the help of master distillers in Scotland. This research resulted in the Single Malt Whiskey glass with an elongated thistle shape on a truncated stem. The design incorporates a small, slightly out-turned lip which directs the spirit onto the tip of the tongue, where sweetness is perceived, and serves to emphasize the elegant creaminess of top quality single malt whiskey.
