This pre-owned in very good to near mint condition, bold, yet intricate and imaginative, Zenith Defy Xtreme Open Chronograph timepiece possesses a mechanical chronograph movement with automatic winding, and it features Zenith’s much-celebrated El Primero 4021 SX caliber, 39 jewels, 36,000 vph, 248 components, a terrific 55-hour power reserve, and a chronograph bridge and balance cock in Zenithium (a shock-absorbing alloy). The massive round-shaped case is crafted in brushed and blackened titanium. It measures 46.5 mm in diameter (excluding crown, pushers, and lugs), is 21.1 mm in height, and rests upon a brushed stainless steel bracelet that is reinforced with carbon fiber, composite materials, and kevlar lateral inserts. The band possesses a brushed stainless steel hidden triple-folding buckle. The unidirectional rotating bezel features 60-minute divisions and applied Zenith elements. The screw-in winding crown is protected by a substantial bridge. Other features include a screw-on case back, screw-in pushers, and a helium valve at 10 o’clock.
Beneath the domed antireflective scratch-resistant sapphire crystal there is a dynamic treat for the eyes. The multilayered and excitingly elaborate silver-colored dial is uniquely composed of shock-resistant hesalite glass, carbon fiber, and brushed aluminum. A subsidiary seconds subdial can be found at 9 o’clock, a 30-minute counter is found at 3 o’clock, and there is a convenient power reserve indicator over the 6 o’clock position. The oversized and polished stainless steel skeletonized hands feature red inserts, and there is a sweeping chronograph seconds hand.
