Meteoric Olivine Space Crystals // Museum Display
Product Description
This jaw-dropping collection from RARE-T features a staggering array of authentic artifacts, antiques, meteorites, oddities, skulls, and cruelty-free taxidermy from various eras in history, in rare and luxury form. Each one was acquired in accordance with the import restrictions on archaeological material, in order to reduce the incentive for pillage and trafficking of illegal antiquities.
This custom museum display showcases Authentic Olivine Meteoric Crystals which are 4.26 to 4.20 billion years old, and found in Belarus in 1810. Large and small impacts have affected Earth since its formation 4.55 billion years ago. Compared with the intensely pitted and cratered Moon, Earth has relatively few preserved impact craters, because they have been destroyed by water and glacial erosion. Impact events are accompanied by tremendous amounts of heat, resulting in melting of much of the ejected pulverized bedrock at ground zero. The melted material cools quickly, and falls back to Earth in the form of Stony iron meteorites.
Olivine has also been discovered in meteorites originating from the Moon, Mars, falling into infant stars, as well as on asteroids. Such meteorites include chondrites (stony / non-metallic meteorites), collections of debris from the early Solar System, and pallasites (mixes of iron-nickel and olivine).
The spectral signature of olivine has been seen in the dust disks around young stars. The tails of comets (which formed from the dust disk around the young Sun) often have the spectral signature of olivine, and the presence of olivine was verified in samples of a comet from the Stardust spacecraft in 2006. Comet-like (magnesium-rich) olivine has also been detected in the planetesimal belt around the star Beta Pictoris.
It's protected under plexiglass in a custom museum display to keep it looking pristine, ensuring protection of your investment while allowing you to fully appreciate this piece of collectible space history. The customized descriptive metallic plaque, in addition to the detailed finishing, add to the elegant and sophisticated, gallery-quality aesthetic.
Complete with a certificate of Authenticity, this piece is an exciting investment that will only get better with age.
