The art of folding a flat sheet of paper into a sculptural three dimensional form has for centuries fascinated people with its sophisticated precision and simplicity. Inspired by this traditional art form, the BE Light itself becomes a sculptural three dimensional work of art. Instead of using traditional paper, the BE Light makes use of metal giving it solidity. When not extended, it has a flat, modern, yet understated appearance. The carefully engineered light, when extended, becomes adjustable thanks to an arm that can easily be stretched open. The unique design allows the lighting fixture to be rotated 360 degrees freely, taking up the least amount of space in a living room or bedroom. It also provides adequate task lighting with powerful LEDs.

About the Designer
Manfred Wang is a professor of design at National Taiwan Normal University and Principal Creative Advisor for Qisda Corporation. Prior to 2013, Wang was the Vice President & Chief Design Officer of BenQ & Qisda Group and the General Manager of QisDESIGN Lifestyle Products Business Unit. Under his guidance, BenQ and Qisda have won more than 375 international design awards. Manfred Wang graduated with a Master of Industrial Design from Stuttgart State Academy of Art and Design in 1994.
Wang reckons mainland Chinese design capabilities are increasing, following the pace of the country’s rampant industrial development, meaning Taiwanese design needs to develop unique prerogatives to persist in the international market. QisDesign’s 60 designers have obtained 101 international design awards that since the brand’s creation in 2009, showing locally developed technology can provide innovative edges to Taiwanese product design.
