Purpose Rye is the first single barrel expression from Republic Restoratives Distillery, the largest crowdfunded distillery in US history. The rye whiskey in each bottle spent five years in new American Oak barrels coopered in Louisville Kentucky by Kelvin Cooperage. High levels of guaiacol from the deep char of the barrels read as smokey, sweet, cocoa notes. Rich resin, pepper, and rye spice round out the pallet and lengthy finish. Though Purpose is bottled at 100 proof, this rye whiskey is deceptively smooth. Sip it straight or serve in an Old Pal or a Perfect Manhattan.
