Product Description

A preeminent figure in American art in the 1960s, Robert Indiana played an essential role in the development of assemblage art, hard-edge painting, and Pop Art. Indiana gained widespread recognition after creating his iconic LOVE image in 1966 for the Museum of Modern Artā€”a work that would gain instant notoriety and later appear as a larger-than-life statue in cities all over the world. In addition to being a painter and sculptor, Indiana created a significant number of prints and works of graphic art. His immense body of work explores American identity, personal history, and the power of abstraction and language.
