Pietra Gallery
Totem // Moroccan Barite Crystals + Boiled Glass Fusion Sculpture
Product Description
Native Americans used barite as a shape shift as well as to go from the physical world to the spiritual one. Totem has the combination between green faceted glass and the natural state of barite on top.
Glass artists Orfeo Quagliata and Ernesto Duran created the TYME collection with the shared idea to create visual compositions full of color and texture. Born in San Francisco in 1972, Quagliata was attracted to glass from an early age. He began apprenticing for his father, Narcissus Quagliata, at age 12. Duran, on the other hand, didn't discover his passion for glass art until he was 24 when he founded Pietra Gallery. He grew up with a love for nature and a passion for collecting minerals, which is translated in his work today.
