Pietra Gallery
Paired // Aquamarine + Boiled Glass Fusion Sculpture
Product Description
Paired represents the union of two totally contrasting materials, having in common their beauty and a range of blues so vibrant yet so different. The name aquamarine comes from the Latin Aqua Marina, seawater. Its name refers to its color and it was formerly known as the stone of the sailor, who offered it to Poseidon to be protected during the trip. It is mounted on a custom made acrylic base.
Glass artists Orfeo Quagliata and Ernesto Duran created the TYME collection with the shared idea to create visual compositions full of color and texture. Born in San Francisco in 1972, Quagliata was attracted to glass from an early age. He began apprenticing for his father, Narcissus Quagliata, at age 12. Duran, on the other hand, didn't discover his passion for glass art until he was 24 when he founded Pietra Gallery. He grew up with a love for nature and a passion for collecting minerals, which is translated in his work today.
