Pietra Gallery
Lawyr // Lapis Lazuli + Boiled Glass Fusion Sculpture
Product Description
A piece half glass half lapis lazuli extracted from Hindu-Kush, Afghanistan, where this blue gold of the best quality is produced. From the Babylonians to Da Vinci this mineral was considered as a symbol of purity and nobility. It is mounted on a custom-made acrylic base.
Glass artists Orfeo Quagliata and Ernesto Duran created the TYME collection with the shared idea to create visual compositions full of color and texture. Born in San Francisco in 1972, Quagliata was attracted to glass from an early age. He began apprenticing for his father, Narcissus Quagliata, at age 12. Duran, on the other hand, didn't discover his passion for glass art until he was 24 when he founded Pietra Gallery. He grew up with a love for nature and a passion for collecting minerals, which is translated in his work today.
