Pietra Gallery
Humpty Dumpty // Madagascar Labradorite + Boiled Glass Fusion Sculpture
Product Description
Humpty Dumpty presents in its brightness a range of green, blue and violet colors, an iridescence so particular that it seems extracted from another world. Since ancient times, the Inuit people tell a story of how the northern lights lay trapped in a rock of the Canadian coast. A warrior released the lights in the northern sky piercing the rocks with his arrow. Legend says not all the light escaped and that the one that remains shining is trapped in the labradorite. It is mounted on a custom-made acrylic base.
Glass artists Orfeo Quagliata and Ernesto Duran created the TYME collection with the shared idea to create visual compositions full of color and texture. Born in San Francisco in 1972, Quagliata was attracted to glass from an early age. He began apprenticing for his father, Narcissus Quagliata, at age 12. Duran, on the other hand, didn't discover his passion for glass art until he was 24 when he founded Pietra Gallery. He grew up with a love for nature and a passion for collecting minerals, which is translated in his work today.
