Pietra Gallery
2way // Brazilian Aquamarine and Boiled Glass Fusion Sculpture
Product Description
In ancient Egypt, Aquamarine beads were introduced between the bandages of the mummies so that they would have protection when going to the afterlife. The limits of the brilliant aquamarine collide with the limits of the deep, almost black blues of the glass. It is mounted on a custom made acrylic base.
Glass artists Orfeo Quagliata and Ernesto Duran created the TYME collection with the shared idea to create visual compositions full of color and texture. Born in San Francisco in 1972, Quagliata was attracted to glass from an early age. He began apprenticing for his father, Narcissus Quagliata, at age 12. Duran, on the other hand, didn't discover his passion for glass art until he was 24 when he founded Pietra Gallery. He grew up with a love for nature and a passion for collecting minerals, which is translated in his work today.
