Elephant Beetle // 11 x 14
Product Description
The Elephant Beetle or Megasoma elephas differs from most other Rhino beetles chiefly because of its tremendous bulk and velvety texture. The typically black exoskeleton is covered with densely packed fine pile that gives it a caramel color. It is a relatively docile, nocturnal creature that feeds on overripe fruit and tree sap as an adult while the immense grubs feed on and pupate within rotting logs.
Pheromone by Christopher Marley sells real, three dimensional natural artifacts exclusively. Specimens may vary slightly from those shown, but the photographs are representative of the pieces available for purchase. All colors are completely natural and un-retouched.
