Dragonfly Formation // 20 x 24
Product Description
Odonata is an order of insects generally divided into two main suborders - Damselflies (Zygoptera) and Dragonflies (Anisoptera). Though the lithe bodies and broader wings of damselflies may be considered to be the more aesthetic of the two, dragonflies exhibit such a remarkable range of sizes and patterns that a piece spotlighting their marvelous diversity was inevitable. Though currently a rather popular insect due to their ability to help control parasitic pests, dragonflies originally obtained their common name through a number of misconceptions about them that were pervasive in early Europe. They don't, in fact, snatch out people's eyes or commiserate with snakes and the devil does not use them to weigh people's souls. They are, however, fast, strong fliers and deadly efficient hunters as both larvae and adults.
Pheromone by Christopher Marley sells real, three dimensional natural artifacts exclusively. Specimens may vary slightly from those shown, but the photographs are representative of the pieces available for purchase. All colors are completely natural and un-retouched.
